Ever since she was a little girl, Angie Phillips dreamed of owning a bakery. She spent hours in the kitchen creating new desserts for her family as a little girl. Her weekends consisted of scouring through her mother’s Betty Crocker recipe book as attempted new ways of creating delicious treats. When she graduated from Ashland University with a degree in entrepreneurship, Angie began the journey towards making her bakery dream a reality.
Today, Canteen focuses on custom cakes, wedding cakes and small batch desserts. Canteen uses only natural and organic ingredients and strives to use as many products from local sources as possible, ranging from Hartlzer Dairy and Snowville Creamery to some of Kentucky’s best bourbon (which helps to make Canteen’s house-made vanilla extract!) If you don’t find Angie in Canteen today, you’ll probably find her perusing the aisles at Whole Foods, drinking a coffee at Coffee Emporium or watching Netflix with her roommate Lucy the Boston Terrier.
